Sunscreen That Keeps Up with a Full Shift
SPF 50+ protection for tradies, site crews, and outdoor workers. Australian made and chemist-operated since 1979.
A full day on the tools - 8 hours on a roof, 6 in a ditch - and the UV is doing its thing whether you notice it or not. These are the sunscreens that make sense for that kind of day.
-
SPF 50+ Broad Spectrum
Helps protect against UVA and UVB. 4 hours water resistant, which covers most of a shift between breaks.
-
Australian Made
Formulated and manufactured right here. TGA listed. Chemist-operated since the 1970s.
-
Built for Bulk
1L pump for the site, 75g mineral for the toolbox, insect repellent combo for the bush. Sizes that fit the job, not the bathroom shelf.
Two Sizes, Same Formula
The 100mL tube is the one that goes with you. Different site, different vehicle, or working away from wherever the 1L pump lives. SPF 50+, broad spectrum, 4 hours water resistant.
Sunscreen and Insect Repellent in One
Outbacker combines SPF 50+ broad spectrum protection with insect repellent in a single application. For when the sun is up and the flies are out. Also available in 1L pump.
Zinc That Stays Put
Zinc oxide formulas tend to hold up better when you're sweating through a shift. They're thicker going on, but that extra grip on the skin is the trade-off most outdoor workers prefer.
How Often Should Tradies Reapply?
Every two hours, or sooner if you're sweating through it — which, on most Australian sites, is before morning tea.
The easiest routine: apply before you leave the house. Reapply at smoko. Reapply at lunch. That's three applications across a standard shift, and it takes less time than making a coffee.
If your crew has a 1L pump on site, the barrier drops to zero. Nobody has to remember to bring their own, and nobody has an excuse to skip it.
Sunscreen as a Work Expense
If you work outdoors, you can generally claim sunscreen as a tax deduction — same as steel-cap boots or a hard hat. It's a work-related protective item.
Keep your receipts, or ask your employer whether sun protection is covered under your site's PPE policy. The ATO's guidelines on protective clothing and equipment cover the detail.
Supplying a Site or a Crew?
Maxiblock's tradie range is distributed through PRYME, our national workplace safety partner. Whether you're stocking a single site shed or supplying crews across multiple locations, they'll sort the pricing and logistics.
Common Questions
What SPF should tradies use?
SPF 50+ broad spectrum is the standard for outdoor work in Australia. It helps protect against both UVA and UVB radiation. Sunscreen is one part of the picture, pair it with a hat, sunnies, and shade where possible.
Is Maxiblock sunscreen water resistant?
Yes. The products in the tradie range are rated 4 hours water resistant, which means they're tested to maintain their SPF level after 4 hours of water exposure. Sweat counts, so reapply every 2 hours during heavy physical work.
Can I claim sunscreen on tax?
If you work outdoors and use sunscreen as part of your sun protection at work, it's generally tax-deductible as a protective item. Keep your receipts. If your employer provides it as PPE, even better.
What's the difference between the mineral and the regular sunscreen?
Both are SPF 50+ broad spectrum and both work by absorbing UV radiation. The mineral formula uses zinc oxide, which tends to suit people with sensitive or reactive skin. The regular formula uses organic (chemical) UV filters, which tend to rub in more transparently. Neither is "better", it depends on your skin and your preference.

About Maxiblock
Maxiblock's story started back in the 1970s right here in Australia. The founding idea was simple: to make great sunscreens, sell them at a fair price, and protect Australians from the harsh sun. Forty-five years later, this is still what drives us.
We're an independent family business, owned and operated by an experienced chemist. That means we know exactly what goes into our formulas, and we stand by how they perform in the sun.
